The Going to the Sun Road

Finished in 1932, this magnificent road took approximately 11 years to finished. It was quite a challenging feat and an impressive accomplishment once finished. Today people still marvel at the spectacularness of the road. It climbs a height o f 6646 ft over the 50miles that its covers.  This road crosses the continental divide, and bisects the park east and west. In 1985 this road was named a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark. Besides the skill it took to make, the road has other oustanding qualities. There are places to stop off along the way so that you can snap a shot of the mountains to take home. The views that you see on this road are unbelievable. If you are interested in seeing this, the best way is probably either on a motorcycle of sorts or on one of the 'red buses' tours. You can drive or bycicle, but you are a tad more limmited to what you can see. The red buses are a shuttle type system that takes you up the road and they tell you some history, interesting facts, and other things. They give you a chance to take pictures, and take in the view for yourself. These  buses are designed without a ceiling basically so you can stand up and snap a picture when they've stopped. It's a really neat way to see the road. No matter how you see it, it's gaurenteed to be gorgeous.
